TERPEGUN

A very hearty greeting to everyone...May this find you and your loved ones in joy and wellness!

Terpegun, an adjective in Malay referring to the state of being stunned. Now, why am I using 'terpegun' when this is a personal blog in English? One thing for sure, 'Stunned' does not have that oomph of the current title!

What can I say? It all started as a state of being .... Me, being in total laziness and with a blank mind, at 3.60 pm, I began to wonder what should I put together for dinner today,

And so I stared into my overloaded freezer and ponder, what may result from all that chaos shouting out to my face...

I made a random pick of frozen packs. I chopped some random vegetables, threw together some unknown mix of spices, spilt in some odd bit of oil, soya sauces, and absent-mindedly over-pinched seasoning....

Then I decided I shall no longer expect the end result I had initially thought of. Instead, I tried on the various function of the rice cooker. Finally deciding that a little burnt rice bottom would not be too bad at all...

So now, in that state of terpegun, I was kind of awed at how much ingenuity and possible 'delightful' outcome one can really have fun in discovering from a supposed state of undesirable lower expression. Somewhat unabashedly marveling at my own genius capability...

Looking deeper at how this state of fun, play, and some say a thick-skin state of being, I realised that a very easy reach and expression of our 'genius' capacity within. Now, why do we not have this state expressed more often? In my still continuing state of terpegun, I surmised that in a state of fun and play, having no heavy expectation of ourselves which usually border on an almost judgmental state of mind, we and our inner-self (some say inner wisdom?) can create with such joy and delight.

Now, back to the ultimate taste of the food prepared, ... well.... shall we leave it to the next time? Pretty please? *Big Grin*

Love and Light to All.... ❤

Keys that jangled in my pocket ....

One very memorable experience of school - aside from pranks, boisterous gathering turned parties, dreadful exams and all, is of this beautiful song ...

Windmills of your Mind..

One typical morning 30 and more years ago, the cheeky schoolboy that was me, passed by my secondary school hall on the many busy errands of a student looking to escape the tedious and boring classes.

Whisper-y voices launched in a song suddenly stopped me in my 'business-like' but actually very well-timed, slow strides! That was when i heard this song and it's haunting melody for the first time.... I was quite in awe as the school choir breathe out the lyrics in an almost cathedral singing-like quality...  quiet, yet loud, haunting, yet beautiful.....
if you look at the lyrics, it is so apt in describing the workings of our minds... the negative ego mind. That which goes around in circle and never ending. It also describes our subconscious... half remembered names and faces...... but all in all a beautiful melodies about the mental whirlwind within ... enjoy the contemplation - and do the opposite, to never let our mind go in circles! Have a wonderful week!

the words goes like this ...
Round, like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel.
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnaval balloon
Like a carousell that's turning
Running rings around the moon

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it's face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it's own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it's face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle your head
Why did summer go so quickly
Was it something that I said
Lovers walking allong the shore,
Leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand

Pictures hanging in a hallway
And a fragment of this song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
As the images unwind
Like the circle that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of this song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
